#NoTransitionWithoutTransmission
The Ecosystem
Regional and thematic working groups, partners, collaborators and research institutions form the GGI Ecosystem, driving forward a work programme for the initiative.
Africa Working Group
Under the auspices of the African Union Commission (AUC), the GGI Africa (GGIA)-Working Group brings together the African Development Bank (AfDB), AUDA NEPAD, power pools and regional and international partners to advance existing prioritised continental and regional transmission projects that are expected to enable the integration of renewable energy on a large scale.
Finance Working Group
Significant investments in green grid projects are required at an unprecedented scale and speed to meet the challenge of decarbonising the global power system. The GGI Finance WG brings together researcher institutions, development agencies and multilateral banks to address the issues that prevent most green grid projects from being climate attributable.
International Solar Alliance
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) was conceived as a joint effort by India and France to mobilize efforts against climate change through deployment of solar energy solutions. It was conceptualized on the sidelines of the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Paris in 2015. At the first ISA Assembly in 2018, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, presented the vision for 'One Sun One World One Grid'.
Climate Compatible Growth programme
Providing modelling and analysis for low carbon pathways in emerging and developing economies. The Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme is funded by the UK'S Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South.
